hi all

Recently I noticed a smell of petrol when I was driving my 1990 230E car and after lifting off the Air filter housing I could see where the leak is coming from.

The attached pictures show the location where the leak is coming from ( as indicated by the red arrow ) .

I have 2 questions

1. does anyone know what this part is called ?

2. what is the replacement procedure for it ?

thanks in advance

brendan

Hi Brendan.

That is the EHA valve. It has two rubber O rings that are known to leak as they get older. You can buy new O rings from the dealers.

Stu

Just to add. Sometimes the valve can crack. So its best to remove it and check before ordering any parts.

hi Grober & stwat

thanks for the help , by any chance would you happen to have the part number for the washers as i have searched on line without any success ?

thanks inadvance

brendan

as already said, EHA valve, 2 green o rings, around £3 for both from the dealer directly.

replacement is easy, unscrew replace orings and rescrew it back. As mentioned do check there are no cracks in the housing and would also be important to check that the screws are not loose in case its that which is causing the leaking (that was the case in in 1990 230ce!)

Hi and thanks to all,

I tightened the screws up it & it was still leaking from a hole midway on the EHA assembly ( highlighted on my Pic above ) I collected the rings today and will replace them on saturday hoping all goes well.

thanks once again for all your help

regards

hi all
brief update , i installed the 2 rubber o-rings but its still leaking from the center hole. Looks like a new EHA valve for me and I dread to think of the cost, probably 1/2 the value of the car.

Now gotta read up on how to re-calibrate the new EHA unit once its installed.

ah well thats the joy of owning older cars ;-D

Brendan check with Rob at 3 pointed parts he had 2 both a cat and noncat version of the fuel distrib unit with the airflow assembly they were £99 each and also included the EHA valve and fuel pressure regulator.

Failing that try these guys:
German SPOB GmbH - Mercedes Ersatzteile für Old- & Youngtimer

They speak English have quite a few parts, recently got my fuel pressure regulator from them shipped from Germany they responded to all my emails and delivery was relatively quick

Hope that helps

thanks

hi thanks for the contacts

I have emailed both so fingers crossed.

Glad I could help. Good luck and keep us posted

wish me luck

hi

the part number is 2437020003 but i believe 2437020007 also works. Part is horrendously expensive nearly 500e over here and sadly i cannot get parts from the UK as couriers/air lines wont carry them.

Bosch does a kit F026T03002 which contans the EHA, O rings and the screws which I'am currently looking at getting in from the States and that comes in at nearly 400e

So i have some very hard decisions to make about the Old Red Baron and me :(:(:(:(

thanks for all the help

Joining this thread has hexed my car!

Guess what??

My EHA has started leaking again! Is there not one weekend where all I have to do is wash and wax her rather then spend it fixing crap all the time?

Where did you hey your EHA from? Mine has the same part number as yours!

Sam
