Learner Driver On My Insurance?

Adding my wife actually reduced my premium...

(They've never met her) :D

My driving instructor would not let me drive home from the test so he could lecture me about "You may have passed but now is when you start to learn."

I don't think my instructor believed in driving if there was a pupil in the car whatever happened, I certainly drove home from my test and every minute of every lesson, including the second lesson when we had to put off parking next top the kerb because of proper snow.
He never cancelled any lessons and felt learning in adverse conditions was all part of gaining experience....I think driving his knackered Escort MkII was an experience in itself..but he was a great instructor...if you unnecessarily dropped 3mph below the limit he would tap the speedo...:D

My Wife finally wants to learn to drive:eek:

All my vehicles are full comprehensive.

Do I need to make any extra insurance arrangements whilst teaching her to drive?

Any information gratefully received.

Paul.
Hi,

Yes, I think you should pay for a driving instructor who will give best guidence to your wife for driving car and she will pass driving test in 1st attempt.:)

:ban: Thread is almost 18 months old! :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Welcome to the Forum btw!!! :D

I added my wife as a learner on my previous car and they increased the premium by about £100/year.

When I got the E350 they told me I either took her off or took my business elsewhere - so she is no longer insured to drive!

She is going to get professional instruction, but it would have been nice to let her practice once she had got the basics down with an instructor.

They also said they won't insure her to drive my E350 once she passes and insist that any other driver have held a clean licence for at least 2 years, so when she passes she will have to get her own car!

I never even noticed that! :)

Wow....looking back I just realised .....especially when I saw Dieselman !:D

Its is a great shame he no longer posts here....

Back to Mbenz76's issues. I cannot blame the insurers, would you want a driver with naff all experience running about unsupervised in £40ks worth of 2 ton 3litre 155mph merc. I wouldnt want to underright that.
