What are forum members opinions on airport car parks where you have to leave your key with them while you are away?

Has anybody actually experienced any real problems - or is it just something you would prefer not to do?

Thanks in advance..............:thumb:

Never had a problem yet.... (used Pink Elephant at Stansted a few times when I've had to fly from Stansted)

Use ParkPlus at Gatwick and the equivalent at Heathrow quite a few times, no problems. Beats having to find a parking place, then a bus stop, remember which bus stop to get off at when you return. At ParkPlus Gatwick the car is videod when you arrive, so there's photo evidence if you think they've damaged your car.

Never had a problem here.

I take the girlfriends Corsa when i travel from LHR.. they can rag that as much as they like... they'd have trouble as its an auto and i can walk faster!!

I've used this service a couple of times in the past for convenience but usually prefer not to. Didn't have any problems but I'd rather know where I parked the car and that I have the key!

What about the nightmare stories you hear on TV about your car being moved and left in a builders yard whilst you are away and find damage to your car when you get back etc?

I would never leave my key with any car park.

If I cannot park it myself I change car parks. They usually say on the booking details anyway.

If your happy to leave your keys when parking up for a holiday etc at one of the long stay airport transfer car parks then go for it,i personally wouldn't(more convenient/cheaper to get a cab to/from the airport for me) but it's a matter of choice.I do know people that have used irport transfer car parking only to find in one instance 120 extra miles on the clock on return & another that had had his car valeted the day bsfore parking was filthy/covered in mud on his return:eek:

I'd never leave an AMG, or some sort of V8 in anyone's hands... they'll definitely rag it...

I've used APH at Manchester since the 1980's... before it was even called APH (anyone remember "Security Park" ?

Never had a problem in all those years, never an extra mile, not even when I had a M3! CCTV photographs your car from all sides when you enter - probably to protect the car park against people claiming for pre-existing damage. Friendly staff, comfortable shuttle buses, no complaints.

However... as for the valet parking at Southampton Docks...... ****** ing ******** ******* my ****** ******* never ******** ******** ******** and ****** ****** the whole ********* cruise ********

As an aside, I also understand that several car parks keep the keys at a location other than the car park.

I just don't fly .

I don't see why I , as a paying customer and the one who is keeping the lot of them in jobs , should have to put up with being treated as a criminal/terrorist .

To stop criminals and terrorists entering and leaving the Country.

That's not an airline issue, it's National Security.

This post has taken an interesting turn :D

Whilst I avoid flying when I can as the airport drag is just that.. planes are quite good at covering large distances.

Surely, all you need is a W126 to get to far flung lands in a day...
