Led number plate bulbs

Am fed up with LED bulbs failing after a short time they start off ok and then flicker all the time and get hot !!

Does anyone know if you can buy led lights for the number plate for the CLK W209, or more reliable bulbs!!

+1 I've had mine in for 18months and counting. Need to order some more actually for the BMW.

Very useful when hooking up the caravan in the dark....

Cheap ones are designed to work at 12v but your alternator is probably much higher at, say 14.5v (measure it), hence they don't last long. Find ones that have a built in regulator or add a cheap DC-DC 12v regulator off e-bay.

I've had the same issue. The last set I brought have lasted since June and have just failed. I emailed the ebay seller and they have replaced them foc.

I've drilled loads of holes in the plastic to allow the heat out of the bulb compartment. Seems to have made a difference. but what Janner is saying makes more sense.
