The LED on the dash that shows that the alarm is armed does not flash on my car, it just stays on all the time. Can this be just a faulty LED and ifso can it be replaced?

Oh, i've just remembered something else that has hapened 2 or 3 times that might be related. When i turned the alarm on and the hazard lights flashed, the drivers side indicator stayed lit  I had to turn off and reset the alarm again to get it to go out!!?? This has hapened a few times. Could this be related to the LED problem??

Sorry, i forgot to mention. The alarm in question is a scorpion alarm, imoboliser fitted by the dealer when the car was new.

Cheers,

Stu

i had the same problem on my old CRX, the drivers indicator used to stay on, the LED never used to flash on that either....

I used to pull the plug off the back of the alarm under the bonnet and then re-connect it...... and this used to make the indicator go out and everything start working again, be careful though as this can set the central locking and if your keys are in the ignition this can be a bad thing ...

I know from experience... beleive me !!

There are a pair of solenoids (looks like the coil and striker found in common household doorbells) in your Scorpion alarm unit and they are sticking. One controls driver's side indicators and the other controls passenger side. My previous 190E had a Cobra alarm fitted and it used to exhibit this symptom. To cure the sticking indicator flash I used to take apart the main alarm unit (mounted in the engine bay next to the ABS unit for me) and lubricate the solenoids housed within using a fine silicone oil spray.

I'm afraid I wouldn't know how to fix your LED issue.

No probs mate :)

Funnily enough it was my driver's side that used to stick permanently on too  Must be a design feature ;)

Good luck getting it sorted.

The LED on my W124 is constant, not flashing.

My factory fitted Scorpion has the same LED in dash but the light is constant when armed (doesn't ever flash). I think this is normal on my 202 but not sure if its supposed to be different on your 201?

Cheers,
Steve
