Thought I would tell the members about a recent transaction for a W163 Brake Servo

Ordered for the 1st time (wont be doing it again) with Prestige Allparts on Thursday 3rd March and all seemed very well. Nice pleasant staff so booked car into garage for the fitting

Nothing in post Friday (didnt expect it)
Nothing in Post saturday
Nothing in post Monday....Hmm, why hasnt it arrived

Nothing in post Tuesday lunchtime so telephoned prestige allparts to enquire where it is and if they could track it and let me know

Voicemail left at 2.30pm asking me to call them

Very sorry Mr Russell, the part you ordered has been tested as broken!

Excuse me, you informed me on Thursday that you had a functioning item ready for dispatch, so I paid you

you know tell me, after me chasing you for the item that it has now tested as broken???

I dont bloody well think so

Now where is my immediate refund

not sure if anybody else has had experience of these people but for my 1st order I believe these people should not be touched with a bargepole

you either at the point of sale have a functioning item or you dont and why the hell have you not called me to inform me and try to resolve it!

Apologies to the mods and members if this is posted in the wrong section of the forum....i am livid and thought people should know of my experience

Thanks

I sympathise, it is is very very frustrating when this happens.

But while there are fraudsters - or just plain incompetent - people out there, honest mistakes do occur from time to time...

Give them a chance to put it right?

In truth they didnt really seem bothered about correcting it

"I might have a car coming in at the end of the week"

Should really have been "leave it with me and I will see if I can source one for you"

anybody know anywhere reliable for a Brake Servo (Booster)

Fell awful having to let the garage down for a 2nd time in 2 days them having booked it in for me

Looks like your are after a second-hand one...

How about a new after-market unit from the likes of GSF or Euro Car Parts?

Or a recon unit?

They are shocking. Good luck with the refund as I had to threaten court action after they stiffed me on some alloys which were s****.
Took four minths as MBNA were not interested. Got rid of MBNA too.

Can you get such an item for the people you have quoted
Cant find the item on GSF

Do you know what. 30 minutes after the phone call from them I submitted back to an online parts finder

Guess who sent a quote through straight away for the very item they said they couldnt supply?

Have sent them a strongly worded email complete with screen grabs of their quote.

I have also indicated that it would appear they are taking payment for goods which they do not have....this could be a criminal act and i will be seeking advice to that effect

I DO NOT stand by and let people assume you can be taken for a mug

I would quite happily take a recon unit or even recon mine if I could get the parts to do it

Google shows no results for recon units

I have given up with second hand parts. I just don't bother now.

Can I ask why you are not getting a new part? Second hand brake components are not always the best idea.

Especially when you consider the reason the car is being broken is because it crashed...

Its a brake servo

Loss of 1 income recently means that alot of stuff I know do myself (just done both rocker cover seals and breathers

Its shocking that mercedes dont supply a seal kit...afterall its only a seal that has gone for the vaccum not to be maintained

I am an aircraft engineer by trade and looked about to see if could get aircraft spec seals to fit

The servo will most likely be made by ATE , Girling or one of the other well known OEM suppliers .

If you can identify who supplied it to Mercedes and go to them direct , perhaps ypu can get the parts to rebuild it ?

Any idea where I could get that information from

Anything written on the unit itself ?

Sometimes the vehicle data card will say , for example , ATE under Bremsen , Bosch or Hella against lighting , Michelin or Continental tyres etc ........

Just had a good look around the unit....yep, its still no been done

This is what is stamped onto the sticker on the face of the unit

4ESP
044220078
ATE
26 7859-0101.4

I suppose that means its an ATE unit....any advice on how to contact them to see if they do a seal kit?

been googling all afternoon without finding them
only just realised got my search set to UK only......

Cheers, much appreciated

Dosen't appear that they do anything relating to the Brake Booster

Checked through their online shop and nothing for brake booster :-(
