Build on what is rubbish? The W202? I would completely disagree with that, my old C36 never had rust issues (I sold it at 100k) and was one of the best built cars I have ever owned - felt like it was built from stone, no rattles or quality issues anywhere.

I had the pleasure of meeting it on Sunday, though didn't get to the Cat & Fiddle, and it was one of the nicer ones I've seen for a long time. I do like the W202...

The build quality is fine, it's the metal quality that's dubious. It just takes a bit of effort to stay on top of that's all.

Irrespective of whether they are rot boxes or built like tanks, there is just something about the W202. They're a classy classic and Mr Sausage's example looks the absolute business.

I don't disagree, makes me a bit cloudy eyed over mine. Might not be the V8 but that engine was brutal back then and managed a heady 21mpg at best, but I loved it.

I thought it was blue, but the V5 said it was green - close up in the right light, it had the look of a kind of pearl finish too.

What a beauty. There's definitely an argument to say the angular C36 kit suits the W202 even more than the C43 one does

I agree, I think every iteration of W202 is a nice classy looking car. For me they still have the classic Mercedes attributes like the grille, fluted rear lights and elegant style etc.
