What is a limited edition MB?

I'm looking at updating my 53 SLK with a 171 and have noticed a few ads for limited edition cars, so they can't be that 'limited'. Special colour perhaps?

I haven't spoken to sellers yet, was hoping to get clued up first. Does it have any effect on value or desirability? Any comments?

Seem to remember something called "Look" (or something similar) special edition. I think it was purely cosmetic - paint colour, wheels etc. It was probably around the time of the facelift and used to get rid of the prefacelift models. Certainly not worth paying extra. Dont think there were that many of them in any case.
