After some 4000 miles and 10 countries, I made it back to the UK without a hitch last night in my 1983 LWB W123, managing to clock up 10% of its entire 23 year mileage in two weeks :)

Countries visited were Italy, croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Montenegro, a glimpse of Albania, and on the return leg, Austria France and Germany before hitting UK shores once again.

The car behaved admirably with no problems whatsoever. I did give it a good going over in Croatia before the major leg and changed tyres, brake pads, plugs, Airfilter, and all the fluids plus I stripped and cleaned and primed the Pneumatic suspension components, bring it back to functioning again. I also managed to find somewhere to top up with R12 refrigerant too so the aircon was working perfectly which was a godsend.

Today I am booking it in for an MOT as its currently sitting on the street with no MOT or tax which is a bit of a concern.... rather hoping it passes 1st time.

Makes my W124 look rather small dontcha think? :)

I'll put proper pics in the gallery when I get a chance.

Very nice, keep us posted on how it gets on with the MOT.

BTW what are you going to do with it?

Wear sunglasses and have a man wearing a peaked cap drive him around so he looks like an 80s gangster or an African dictator? :)

That's what I'd do! ;)

Excellent! ...or an Arab family shopping car (often used as an MPV alternative!). Have a look at the roads surrounding Harrods you generally see a few stretched W124's, W210's and W211's :)

The Arabs that I have seen around London with the Limos tend to have the newer limos or fleets of two/three W220s turn up at once with a "huge" family.

Yeah that's true! You couldn't be seen in an old model, so I gues the W123's, W124's and pre-facelift W210's are out then! Unless they're seen as being 'Old money' ;)

I've previously seen a couple of W220's around Sloane Square pick up a family from outside one store and drive literally 200 yards to another store to let them out again :D

Good trip mate. Well done, and nicely recovered.

What does it do to the gallon???

Hope MOT is OK.

Well done on getting it back here

Spoilt for choice – must have some sort of rota I guess…! :D

However, one woman is enough to do my head in so must be double, triple, quadruple, fifthtruple the trouble/hassle for the Arabs…. ;)

hmm defo trouble but when you have unlimited money theres always a solution that can be found!

and atleast they are never worred about being told........

"Not tonight honey" :D

Actually it used to be owned by an Omanian Sheik ... Busaidi or something IIRC.

Just got back from the MOT and it failed.

It failed because the indicators were flashing too fast and the hazzard lights only flash on one side.

Other than that he said it was a peach. :)

First hunch being indicator relay or hazzard switch or both. Problem is that I need to fix it and get it back to the MOT shop or it'll cost me an extra £45 for a complete retest. Getting my hands on these may be a problem in 24hours with such short notice unless someone here has a donor W123 that for the bits on short term loan for the MOT.

Are you back in Richmond Sp!ke ?

Can't you hot foot it up to GSF in Feltham ?

See, it probably was used for the Harrods run (if it was in the UK before!)...

Hope you get the relays you need for the MOT... Good luck :)
