Today I travelled down the dual c/way with cruise set at 65mph.
I braked to turn off the dual c/way & took a side road to the left, when I re-applied the throttle there was no power, the car had gone into limp mode.

I stopped and restarted the car & it was no longer in limp mode, but for the next few miles the gearchange was very erratic. Everytime I applied the throttle there was a delay as the auto box seemed to be changeing down a gear before it would accelerate.

I know I'll need the fault codes read, but could turning off a dual c/way reasonably fast trigger something to put it into limp mode? Low auto box oil level or something? The car was seviced 2 weeks ago & had the auto box oil & filter changed by MB at the same time, coincidence?

When mine was low on oil in the box it dropped out of gear coming off a roundabout driving pretty fast:), pulled off road, ign off and on again was ok on restart posted on here told to check oil which i did and topped up and has been changed a couple of times since and has been fine.

Doesnt sound like low oil in your case especially if light is still lit.

Once after doing some engine work i drove to work and wondered why engine lamp was on stopped halfway and noticed i had left the maf unplugged:o, plugged it back in light stayed on but coming home later light was out and again has been fine since.

Maybe worth a look around the engine to make sure nothing stupid has been done!

No warning lights before or after in my case, just into limp mode. Strange.

Sounds like the maf to me.
symptoms seem the same as on my old car W203 220 cdi
when the maf was faulty.
new maf around £70 from stealers

Since this happened just after braking I wonder if the brake light switch has something to do with it. Apparently, it is part of the circuit involved.
