Has anybody ever had Linguatronic retrofitted? I have been told that my new car will have telephone pre-wiring and COMAND which I neither ordered or paid for :D but now I have this I quite fancy Linguatronic to complete the job! The car is due for delivery Monday so too late to add it as an option. I was wondering if anyone has had it fitted and how much it costs.

I can find no info on the MB web site, does anyone know where else I could look?

This is possible. Take a look at Richards website http://www.mercupgrades.com He has retrofitted it to a W208 CLK. I know its a different car but in theory it should be possible. Miro can probably offer some advice on this also.

had this retrofitted to 04 w211 320cdi by braybrookes in hertford
No problems works well

The darn thing dont work when its factory fitted let alon retro-fitted.
tell it to do one thing and it does another or it dont just understand your command.

Talk to it nicely, don't shout but most importantley teach your voice and use the right commands

sorry it was a couple of years ago i think it was around the£400 mark

Back then for the W211 it was a module swap and a steering column upgrade. Now it requires additional wiring and optical fibre to be added.

How about a W221 (with 386 if it makes a difference)?

EPC shows two control units, language control system linguatronic/SBS (A2218709185/A2218705687). Cannot interpret which cables exist and which are missing.

Obviously version coding is needed.

Yeah, for 386 there is a bit of surgery involved. The reason why no extra cable exists would be due to the fact that normally the entire harness is integrated into the function and no upgrade exists.

Parts list
---------
1 voice module
1 CLK or C voice harness for MOST
1 MOST joiner
2 CD stacker fibre strands (as needed for CD stacker upgrade)
1 screw for fastening

1 steering wheel cover
1 switch
1 voice stalk
1 plastic trim

1 VCS instruction CD

1 cloth tape for wrapping

Instructions
-------------
Install module
Install wiring
install fibre optic
Switch over the microphone connectors.

Splice power, earth and wakeup into phone harness
Splice optical fibres into ring ahead of UHI module
Upgrade steering wheel

Code ring with DAS

Wait for several minutes for the onset of VCS function.

The hardest part is sorting out the microphone array.

Why dont you move to UK Miro? ;) You can make more money here! :p

Crikeys, in 2004 Braybrooks quoted me in excess of £800 and we already have hands free and a few other requirements fitted.
