Live Traffic Information Expired - S213 E Class

My S213 is two years old this week. I've owned for one year.

Just had a Live Traffic Information Expired notice.

Is this an annual sub ? I 'thought' new cars came with a 3 years included.

I can't see anything on Mercedes.co.uk to say either way.

TIA
Hi
I own a 2017 S213 just received email regarding Mercedes connect renewal on the 28th April 2020. Very expensive for all 4 is that the only way, do Mercedes not offer a package price to renew all four? Total renewal price £466 requested

All part of the transition to the Car-as-a-service. Just a platform for them to sell you stuff through. Charging per mile coming to a Mercedes near you soon. Of course, as its a Mercedes, expect to pay more per mile...

I'll use Waze (Via Carplay) for the rare times I need to drive in traffic. However, I'll still have to fork our £158 to get the 5 (that I can use) /11 services that I'm paying for.

I'm still arguing with Customer Services ...

Last response from MB was ....

""I kindly inform that Live Traffic Information expired after 3 years of usage, since the first activation of this service. Unfortunately, there is nothing we, as a technical support can do. As I mentioned earlier, I requested our IT to clarify this, but it is not a technical issue or error. Therefor I kindly advise you to clarify this with your Mercedes- Benz Sales Partner.""

to which I replied...

""How can a vehicle which was registered as NEW on 06/02/2018 have an expired three year subscription?
Three years from the date of UK registration would be 06 Feb 2021.
Unless of course my car has a time travel option as part of the Driving Assistance Pack ? If so how do I activate this ? ""

We will see.....

the costs are unsustainable when free apps provide better information

The real answer to this is Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.

For older cars that do not support it, there will always be a dilemma whether to use free tech but live with a mobile phone stuck on the windscreen, or succumb and pay MB for maps and live traffic.

Agree that MB kind of hide this renew information and don't mention it when they sell cars. Do they think everyone is on a lease for 3 years?
The information on your own car can be seen at your Mercedes me portal, and when I checked mine is was 3 years from new. This software leasing charges is not just from MB, have a look at the threads from Tesla who can actually change the cars software overnight - without telling the owner!
One point for all owners is to download the latest maps just before their 3 year software expiry date, although the maps do change about every 6 months

The real answer to this is Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.

I haven't bothered renewing the Live Traffic subscription as the car has CarPlay so I use Waze or Google Maps.
