2002 clk 230 soft top
I have a 2002 clk soft top and I am looking to try to get a spare key. MB want a fortune for another so does any one know the best way to go e.g do I have to use MB.
Also I have no mechanical key in my key ? Are they all the same or again just for my car.
It would be nice to lock the glove box when the hood is down.
There must be a way to get a key other than MB ?
Please help ?

Thank you for getting back so quick
Its now in hand thank you
That was quick it took Mercedes 3 days to get me a spare key!!!!;)

The mechanical key would be specifically cut for your car. The key blade and cutting would be resonably cheap, although as you don't have a key I think that Mercedes is your only real source. They'll order it from your VIN.

In terms of a spare key the only other source I've heared of is this company:

Mercedes Keys - ReplacementMercedesKeys - Mercedes keys programmed and repaired!

:thumb:Thanks for that link above mate - they're charging £170 incl, as opposed to £235 from MB. Still thining about it at £170 though - still alot of dosh!

Agree, it's still expensive but most car keys seem to be like this these days (some are even more expensive!).

I always ensure any car I buy has at least two keys or factor in a price adjustment.

Just had same problem after standing on my key (snapped circuit board inside)!
Mercedes price £227, that includes new key blade cut.
price from local aftermarket key programer was £250 not including blade!
so have gone with mercedes!
but they have a problem now with there key programing machine in germany so dont now how long it will take to get my key!
