Sorry for an unusual first post. Does anyone know of or own K179VBD Mercedes e200 w124
I’ve searched the usual suspects (ebay, autotrader) over the past while but not properly as it’s dont have much hope (it’s SORN).id love to buy it some day
Thank you

Not personally, but you've done the right thing posting the registration as unless anyone on here recognises it or knows of its whereabouts, your only hope is someone (perhaps the current keeper or successive keeper(s)) searches the plate and finds this forum and gets in contact.

It's worth having the correct-spaced version as well:

K179 VBD

thank you, yes hopefully they come across this or maybe someone on here has owned it before and could know it’s whereabouts or any info.

The DVLA system should explicitly state if a vehicle is on SORN. I'm afraid it's just untaxed, and has been for over 3 years. Given the discrepancy between tax and MoT expiry dates, it suggests someone declared it off road for a couple of years before letting it lapse.

That’s very strange, just checked and your right
I last checked tax status summer 2014 and it was happily taxed a couple months.
I don’t think the SORN could’ve lapsed because I believe it’s now continuous (agreed you used to renew a SORN every year).
The only other option would be it’s went to northern Ireland (and passed the equivalent of an mot such that it could’ve been taxed after the late 2014 mot fail) but it’s not changed owner since 2008.
The fact it’s untaxed on a specific date made me think changed keeper/scrapped as opposed to a tax disc ending at the end of a month, but it’s not flagging up as scrapped.

Change of keeper should trigger a new logbook - the last issue is dated Nov 2011.

I've looked up a few cars I know to be scrapped, and there seems to be 2 distinct groups. Cars scrapped prior to 2017 still appear, but seem to have the untaxed date showing as some 2-3 years after the event. I wonder if this is just the DVLA catching up/completing records? More recent examples (2018 and 2019) are simply no longer present on the vehicle information system, although their MoT history still exists.

The logbook change was just a newer style V5, last actual keeper change was 2008.

Giving up I think on this! Not marked as scrapped, not exported but something makes me think it’s not out there.

Tell you this for starters ..I was helping another member who owned a 200E ..And i could find very little, if any , information on it in any way or form just to help him. ..200E are rare breed of W124s with the smallest engine fitted
