Lovely 300CE

Thats a cracking motor, the interior looks incredible.

I'd be tempted if I had some spare cash!

nah, half the fun is restoring it :)
nice in that colour though

The stance of that car is bang on. Not many c124s seem to have the height just right like that with the rear being slighty higher. If it's to reach anywhere near the asking though it'll need a wheel refurb at least. I'm still not sure whether I like the idea of the retrofit AC though which could knock a few quid off the asking price.

Where do you get retrofit from? Because the seller doesn't list it as an option? In 1991, weren't most AC systems dealer installed?

The car has a solid front bumper with no vents which were only fitted to cars with no AC. Cars with AC fitted at the factory had vented bumpers.

I've no idea what percentage of cars in 1991 had AC fitted by the dealer, but I have read, on this forum, that it was a common occurance due soem import tax regulations?

The wood panel on dealer systems is often crudely cut for the AC buttons and even when done well doesn't have the correct bevel and looks aftermarket. There are also several parts with different part numbers for cars with and without AC. The Radiator being just 1. when it comes time to change these parts, which version do you get? same with the AC parts.

On the whole this car looks really very good, but from a personal standpoint, the dealer fit AC would mark it down as I would rather have a factory fitted system.

Are you sure? Here in the UK almost all of the 124's Ive seen even the ones without AC have a vented bumper.

Alot of the 124's in Europe which I've seen didnt have the vented bumper but the solid ones, but these cars did have AC.

I actually thought this was just a europe thing :dk:

I don't know which one is factory or retro fitted out of "EC" or the "Snowflake" symbol.

I suspect the bumper vents for Non ac /ac cars were differentiated for Pre face-lift. I think face lift got vented bumpers regardless..

Nice, but...one photo is of a decidedly budget brand tyre. That's a good clue.

I've bought a few Ebay Mercs with budget tyres on them, and they were all terrible tyres, "Accellera" being notably awful!
