Mercedes would be well advised to build cars prospective owners actually want to buy.![]()
Mercedes is cutting production capacity amid falling profits
Mercedes launched a fresh cost-cutting plan to revive sales and margins as the company forecast a drop in earnings in 2025.www.autonews.com

Were they arrogant enough to think that they know what the customer wants?
Biggest fail so far appears to be the 4 pot C63. An utter disaster. Still haven't spotted a single one on the road.
Put a 4 pot into an E63 and the result will be similar. AMG owners want V8's, not 2lt 4 pots with electric motors and fake sounds.
Yet BMW and Audi are still turning out V8'sMercedes aren’t the only manufacturer being burned by acting in good faith and working towards the incoming legislation, and finding themselves in a tricky position. Porsche’s fortunes have swung dramatically.
Which begs the question, why didn't Mercedes continue the V8 in the W214 C63 and save the electric stuff and 4 pots for when its actually necessary and in the next incarnation of the C63, if there is one. I'd imagine the lack of demand will kill the model off.Just ignoring the reality of future legislation as long as possible would be my guess! Seeing Mercs disasterous sales they are not going to be keen to jump in!
I haven't a clue either. I expect Mercedes would be too embarrassed to give an answer.I can't seem to find any reliable or official numbers as to how many new 4 pot C63's have been sold since launch... anyone got any idea?
