Right, so my car came with 2005 SLK 280 rims, they are 16x7 ET34, 5 lugs, 112mm

my rear tires are 225/50/16 and the fronts are 205/55/16

(Well one rim is cracked, so on 1 side in front it came with a 2004 c230 sport rim but its 225/45/17)

So i know for a fact that i can run 225's in the front, and i was thinking when i get new tires going 235 in the back, and 225's in the front (16")

I like how the slk rims look.. i mean if i can afford amg monoblocks i would, but unfortuneatly i can't

so i wan't to lower my car without sacrificing much comfort.. i see many members lowered it with H&R springs.. the only ones i can find are on tirerack, and theres the 1.5 in the front with 1.3 in the rear or 1.3 all around..

For shocks/struts are bilstein sports really stiff? am i better off going with comfort/hd?

and will i have rubbing issues? if i don't roll the fenders even with my current wheel setup? (225/50/16 rear, and 205/55/16 in front) if lowered with H&R/bilstein?

If you go for springs and shocks from a sport chassis they won't be too hard.

hmm hard to find the sportsline suspension here in the states, not to mention price

got quoted at 2100$ for a full sportsline kit :S

whats the kit consist of? and is much comfort sacrificed? (Los angeles roads have lots of potholes and bumps)

Bilstein B12 Kit consists of shocks and springs only giving a 45mm drop. this will be a lot lower than the std sportline kit (IIRC approx 20mm drop). I have heard nothing but great reports on the bilstein kit. I have not got the B12 kit myself due to speed bumps close to home and the 45mm drop will be too low, my option was the eibach spring with 30mm drop run with the bilstein HD Shocks, I have no complaints but I would like to see what the b12 kit is like. another consideration is to get the slightly beefier amg anti Roll bar which would sharpen up the handling a little.

just my 2 cents :)

I realise that you are in the states and shipping will be costly but I will have a full set of shocks and springs from a 1992 300e 24v for sale in a couple of weeks. It had the sports chassis so is lower than standard but not too low. I can email you a couple of pictures of the car before it was dismantled showing the ride height if you are interested, let me know.:)
