I'm thinking of doing an engine swap and though I would look for some advice on here.
My current car is a W210 E280 M104.94 straight six engine. The body work is pretty shoddy but the engine and gearbox are pretty good with relatively low mileage.
So..... My thoughts are to try and pick up a cheap merc with a damaged engine/g'box (S Class/ SL/ W124 E Class Coupe) but good body and swap the engine+g'box across. Obviously if I wanted to do this with another M104.94 it would be a simple swap, like for like.
What else would it involve if it were a 3.2 version or a 300CE-24 for example. Would this be the same swap + ECU?
Also... What If I was to replace a 4 cylinder engine with the 2.8, for example a W124 E220 Coupe? Would this again be just the engine/ box and ECU swap (and brakes and springs).
A lot of questions to ask but a response would be appreciated.
