Hi,

Does anyone know where i might be able to source the few tools unique to the M117 engine at a decent price. Used would be preferred.

Looking for the following;

Pin puller for timing chain guide rails.

Test Gauge for hydraulic compensating elements. (measures the height of the valve spring assembly.

Spring Compressor for Valve Spring removal.

Also looking for some extra M117 valve colets (the tapered locks that hold them down) and an assorted bunch of 'hydraulic compensation elements' - theyre the little shims that are found in each valve spring assembly.

Any leads would be appreciated!

Also, and this is a long shot but worth asking, if anyone has a set of LHD 4 piece exhaust manifolds by any chance i would be very interested.

I have complete heads if you need/want them.

Cannot help with the tools although for the pin puller I made one from a long bolt, a couple of washers, a hollow tube and a couple of nuts.

Made a puller from a threaded bar through a sliding weight - wasn't sure but it worked really well. Ordinary valve compressor worked with the heads out and sufficient clearance. As for genuine tools there must have been plenty about at one time. I know some dealers still have some have in the back of a cupboard but have never come across any for sale. The collets you can get from Mercedes-Benz of Poole they are official suppliers and give a great service.
