M157 engine oil. Is this the correct one?

Hello,

A friend of mine has a Mercedes CLS63AMG with the M157 5.5 V8 Biturbo engine and he’s been told the engine oil for this car should be 0W40 Mobil 1

Is this the correct one?






I also checked the link that has been posted here and it showed for M157 229.5 and at the back of the Mobil 1 bottle is says MB approval 229.5

I just want to make sure this is definitely the right oil

Ow40 or 5w40, 229.5 spec; that will be fine.

MB-Poole used their branded 5w/40 in my M157 during every service.

That’s perfect for topping up. The M157 is known to use some oil. Worth keeping a log of date and mileage to track consumption.
