Mercedes Benz that venerable marque now trading on its name and destroying its future through a chain of main dealerships operating like dentists.
And my problem is?
I have a year 2000 W210 E320 CDI estate that may be beyond any help from anyone because it's a reshelled car with a DVLA confered chassis number and the control unit of the computer doesn't recognise the car when it's plugged into a STAR machine.
In the past I've had codes cleared but this must be on another level.
The EPC (electronic power control) pays a visit as I lose kickdown.
So it needs the STAR machine that should come free with every Mercedes.
So I go to my local independent Mercedes gagrage and he can't get anything off the machine to tell him what is causing the EPC message.
So he doesn't charge me anything and he tells me I'll need to go to the Mercedes main dealership and have the control unit "diagnostically reset" on "their mainframe computer".
This is all because the STAR machine doesn't recognise the SABTVR chassis number allocated to the car by DVLA.
I also have another number which I received from the Mercedes main dealership and it is the chassis number of the car from which the engine in my car was firdst fitted.
This is a WDB210 chassis number.
More to follow!
So I make an appointment
