Hi, SLK R172.
when i am in manual mode gearbox mode the dash board display tells me to change up to save fuel.
Can this be turned off. its very infuriating while you are driving.
It is at the top in green and also above the middle display section.
Has anyone else noticed this?
it really is ruining the driving experience for me.
it is meant to be a sports car of some description.

Yes, you can turn it off by not going into manual mode!

+1 for the above my SLK55 doesn't tell me😀 the F-type does though

Bit if black insulation tape over the section on your dash that you don't like. Your welcome...... 😎

i dont want to be told how to drive by the car. ; (
I understand.

It’s a sports car, so you want to be free. You want to be free to do what you want to do. You want to drive in the gear that you want to drive in. You want to be on the edge. A rebel, a rogue, an outlaw. A maverick behind the wheel, a real loose cannon.

So ignore the car’s suggestion to shift up. You’re in control. You’re one man. starting a revolution, a rebellion, an uprising. This is where it begins. You’re fighting the system on your own, alone, but more will follow. Fighting one eco driving suggestion at a time.

But don’t stop there. When Google Maps finds a faster route, ignore it. Follow your own path. Be true to yourself. When the cluster tells you that a B2 service is due in 29 days ignore it. Do an A0 service at an independent workshop in 30 days.

We’re counting on you @scot360

The prompt to change up for fuel efficiency in manual mode cannot typically be turned off in most vehicles, as it's a feature designed to promote fuel-efficient driving. If it's bothering you, consider contacting your vehicle's manufacturer or dealer to see if there's a way to disable or adjust this feature, although it may not be possible without reprogramming the vehicle's software.
