Took the CL down to Olly's for an "A" Service + Replace the Four Accumulators + Rocker Cover Gaskets and the Brake fluid changed.

What a difference it has made to the suspension, the reason I had the Accumulators changed was a Forum member ( Alexanderfoti ,many thanks ) had the same symptoms, harsh ride over bumps and rough roads etc also on the MBWorld Forum, they mentioned it should be part of your on going maintenance and should be changed every 80,000 miles or so, as they don't last for ever, mine has done 105,000 miles.

Olly also noticed the Eurocharged S/C Pulley was making a noise. I phoned Acid (MSL) and he is going to change it under Warranty, ( no quibbling , or sucking of teeth) when his new stock arrives from the States.

Once again I would like to thank Olly for his attention to detail, work ethic and his great Customer Service. I felt quite exhausted when I got home after watching how hard PCS work, which of course includes Jack and Graham. No wonder they are so busy.

what is an accumulator, and what does it do?

Hi Sean,

I'm sure Olly will correct me. This what I understand, there are three main accumulators half oil half gas which dampen the oil movements in the struts and one Pulsation accumulator which dampens the oil movements caused by the radial piston pump, if that makes any sense.

Clear as mud to me

Sounds like they dampen lots of the oil in the ABC system ;)

An accumulator holds oil required for a hydraulic system. It has a header pressure on top to keep it pressurised. It allows the system to maintain a constant oil pressure.
