1.There are third party Android screens which do function as the regular command and have the
ability to run Google Maps.

2. Some gadgets are available which allow the old command system to display apple car play and android auto.

Instructions and code were messaged when receipt of the dongle was confirmed. In truth instructions were not needed, as soon as the code was entered it updated and I just followed the screen prompts such as they were.
The new maps have a different colour set than the previous maps.
This is the map version.

The OP has an older car with COMAND NTG4.5 - the latest maps version for NTG4.5 is v20.0 (2022-2023) - so quite new (released in mid-2022).

There probably won't be an update for NTG4.5 this year, this unit was in production from 2010 to 2015 so it's quite old now. There may be one more update before they stop releasing them, but I doubt it will be so soon after the current one.

So you bought maps that were released 3 years ago in 2020. My point still stands, if Mercedes are not releasing new maps, there will be no new maps on eBay either, regardless of price.

Should the OP want to upgrade from an older map, he is not obliged to buy from MB>

I bought the map in April 2022 to upgrade from an older map,fully aware that it was the latest available either via MB or eBay.I chose eBay on price. It will not be out of date until there is a newer release.


I suggest that you read the whole thread before commenting. Maps that were not on the MB server, and not available according to them, were available from eBay.
But don't let facts get in the way of entrenched opinions,hey?

With NTG4.5 and upward, there's not much point in buying a PIN code for an older version of the maps (unlike with the DVD/CD-Rom based maps updates on earlier versions of COMAND, where you could buy 'second hand' discs).

The actual maps data is free of charge anyway. The cost from MB for generating a PIN code is exactly the same, regardless of what version of maps you are asking them to generate the PIN code for. The same applies to the cost from eBay for a 'pirated' (unofficial) PIN code.

The only case I can think of where you might be asking specifically for a PIN code for an older version of the maps, is if you fitted a second hand COMAND unit bought from breakers, and you need a new PIN code for your car's VIN just to get the navigation going, and you can't be bothered with actually uploading a newer maps version to COMAND (takes around an hour) - in these circumstance, you might want to just get a PIN code that will work with the (old) version of the maps that is installed on the second hand COMAND unit.

Yes, all you need is the software to download the maps. BUT - you'll still need to purchase a PIN code to activate the new maps.

I just downloaded the new maps for NTG 5.1 AND got the required PIN from satnavishop.
It's the PIN that the license cost attaches to

All works (90 min load time though!)

There's no direct link to MB.

The links all point to forums where you can download the MB Download Manager for COMAND software.

Once you download and install it (it requires Windows PC), the software will allow you to download the maps from MB onto a USB drive.

Hi, I can do updates for comand online with NTG 4.5, 5.1, 5.2, 5.5 and 6. I give the activation code and the last maps availables always updated.
If anyone is interested, i need the VIN in order to check compatibility and generate the code.
