Just heard that I'm off to Bruntingthorpe on May 13 for a Maserati track day :D

I know that a few of you have been to this place - what is it like? All I know is that it has a 2 mile runway and the Cold War jets...

Have you not got this months CAR magazine. Big feature on it. its the only place that you can realistically do over 220mph in the UK.

Nope - don't read car mags, rely on what the lad leaves lying around the house.

Or should I say: Yes, I have not got it.

Sorry, not having a go :) but I couldn't resist

Big old airfield site. I went some years back when Jonathan Palmer was based there, there were no barriers etc. on the tracks so they were pretty relaxed about what you did (worst that could happen really was sliding off onto the grass - like the Top Gear track at Dunsfold).

Have fun!

Maserati track day?!

surprised I've not heard about it, as most stuff gets on or is organised by someone from the maseratiforum.
Any details?

The tarmac is quite rough so stone chips can be a problem (so don't get too close) and some track day organisers use half the runway - 1 mile - and make quite a good fast track. :thumb:

Organised through Pirelli, so may be one of their marketing events.

Well, a very good day on Wednesday. Nice brekky at Kilworth House Hotel, and then off in groups of three to Bruntingthorpe.

Used what I think they call the sprint track - so half the runway plus a few corners and a nice right-left-right chicane which was crucial to get right for a good run.

Had quite a few laps; got to drive a GranTurismo and GranTurismo S, and Quattroporte ("normal" and S). Have to say that the GT was very nice, but blown away by the QP - would be great for the runs down to southern France every few months and you could probably live with it as a day-to-day car too. With the Skyhook suspension it was nice and tight on the track but still gave a really good drive round the lanes to and from the hotel.

All in all a really good day - all about having fun in the cars. One dealer person was there, but he seemed to be happy to drink coffee and have a general chat rather than shoving a sales pitch at people.

Only thing left to do is find circa £88k...

Saw an 09 plate GranTurismo S yesterday - very nice.
