Hi,

thanks for the info - anyone know what's in a Service C? I'm due in a few thousand km...

Thanks,
Eddie.

Not much different from an A service.

BTW services also include for many free breakdown cover and 30 year rust guarantee (subject to T's and C's for which see Mobilo threads).

In addition, the dealer does any recalls, updates, service campaigns etc free while doing the service.

BTW nowadays the service letter is only a guide as the diagnostic equipment tells them what needs to be done and provides an Electronic Service Sheet.

Typically A service is about 1 hour's labour and the B service is about 2 hours of labour.

Skim this thread to see just how extensive the regular updates can be and they go on updating, improving and correcting faults for up to 6 years at least: -

Sadly no comparable info for other models is being posted on any forum I've seen.

While there are some Service Campaign items which would be done like non-urgent recalls, many of those items noted in that thread are fixes for problems that the customer may or may not notice - most manufacturers are pretty strict that the customer has to complain, about say, jerky autobox changes, before the dealer can do the update.

Interesting to see several comments in there about S Class A services in the US costing $200.

You don't need to ask with MB for most of the updates/service campaigns as they do them when you get serviced whether you ask or not. And frequently don't even mention what they've done unless you ask.

Of course there are some things which only cause a problem in some of the cars in the identified batch and then it may say 'if there is a problem with X, renew the abc' or whatever. For example, some cars with the seven speed box had jerky gear changes but many did not. So then they would only make changes if the car had the problem and owner feedback is obviously helpful.

Q: What do main dealer services include?

A: Being bent over the cash register when you go to collect your car...

I wonder how many owners would describe that as a perk?
