MB diesel fuelling advise needed

Ok, guys need your help again.
The car has been running normally for 2-3 months now till y'day.
It simply did not start yesterday for 40 mins (the starter was working ok)
Today, the car started ok in the morning but then could not start several times during my daily run. Then when I was on the way to MB, the car started shaking violently and shortly afterwads "Check engine" went on. Revs were very eratic...Now at MB all they told me was "there is a low pressure in the common rail pressure system" and that's it!
Now, as far as I can see the problem has evolved. Before the car did not start sometimes like once a week or twice a week or even one in several months. Today it happened two times and the car started shaking with engine on. At MB they have no clue how to approach this problem. What shall I check and how? Dieselman suggested soleinoid valve?! Thanks

can also someone tell me what solenoid valve is and what it does?
Is there any site I can check part # plz

Isnt the car under warranty?, if it is just dont mention the biodiesel incident (which i dont think is relevent anyway) and tell MB to sort the intermittent non-starting issue.

As Panason1c says, if the car is under warranty let MB sort it out. If you start changing bits there's a risk your dealer will say that the fault is down to you mucking around with the car.

If the car is shaking with the engine on then, to me, that implies not all cylinders are firing.

The car is under warranty as its been purchased recently, however, MB admitted y'day that they have no clue what the prob is

My car is now at their garage for tests, but it just does not sound good - they have no clue whats wrong with the car.

No clue at the moment maybe, but ultimately they will eventually have to find the cause of your problem......meanwhile, i assume you have been given a courtesy car?...........

Right, looks like MB have found the prob, it was zero pressure in the common rail for a while hence starting probs, so the common rail together with a valve are now being changed.
No courtesy car though

1. if its under warranty - dont have any hassle in trying to diagnose youself - give the car to MB to fix and dont accept it back until they do.

2. Get a free courtesy car if the amount of time they are taking to fix the issue is getting too long

3. try another dealer.

Ok, the problem has been solved. The common rail has been changed by MB:bannana:

Can I pick your brain please. Will a e220 cdi run on veg oil, without causing issues like seals pumps ect!

Gino

The consensus it that the CDI engines are not suitable for running on straight vegetable oil, because of the risk of pump damage.

Has anyone tried on a mix?
I know bio is being run with no grief by a good few.

I wish anyone that wants to do this the best of luck but why do we ignore the warnings and experiences of others? Pre CDI is a great idea and I'm sure the owners of CDI powered vehicles might be able to fill our tanks with bio fuel but what are the long term implications for this minor, short term saving? why buy a very nice car and then for the sake of saving a small amount of money use fuel that does not comply with the stated terms and conditions of the warranty?
