MB Electric Aerial

Yup i have tried it for my W202 worked excellent with the help of pluggers mini guide. Only thing is the though you would be better off buying from the main Mercedes Benz dealer it costs £19.something there so why pay the extra £2 and wait delivery when you can get this direct from MB cheaper, garanteed original & new and on the day (unless out of stock).

The only thing i would say is that if you decide to do this and go to the dealer dont quote ure vin number as i did this and on there system was listed another replacement mast with the price of £34.something luckily i had the part number for mine again thanks to pluggers gave them it and then said ah yes thats ALSO a original replacement mast costing £19.something.

The correct one for your SL is as follows:

Hirschmann AUTO 6000...

04

820 902-104

It should look EXACTLY like this once you get it

Hope this helps:D

get the one gurpz has bought, i bought an ebay one previously and its started rusting, it doesnt seem like an original Hirschmann one!

This aint actully mine i have a W202 this was for my friends SL but i myself had bought the original one for the W202 from MB

As mentioned a new mast is around £18 at your local main dealer, I fitted one a couple of weeks ago.

replacement aerial mast

Hi, I am just in the process of ordering one of these replacment masts, I would just like to ask the people who have replaced them if they had to get the broken pieces of plastic out from the motor bit.
My plastic toothed cable had broken - had yours? If so did you just feed the new one in or have to take the motor apart to get the broken bits out?

Cheers
Chris

Nothing had broken on mine it was just sticking so I was lucky in that respect. If anything had broken I would assume its dropped to the bottom of the casing out of harms way unless its a really big piece thats broken off.

Only thing I'd suggest is to kepps yours lubricated! Ooh and indeed, er.

I stole some of 'er Ladyships Vaseline lip balm (a mini tub of vaseline to all intents) and mine has been going up and down like a good 'un. Oh yes.

Can you give me the part number my friend? Mine has started to stick and it's bloody annoying

I would suggest the opposite - any kind of lubricant will retain dirt/dust/grit, giving a poor electrical connection between the mast sections and accelerating wear.

I just give mine an occasional wipe with kitchen towel and meths.

stripdown or total renewal?

It is possible to strip some models down. and there are spare parts available but if its as bad as that a new aerial is probably a better bet. http://products.hirschmann.de//inde...FTOKEN=&pbparam=tid=1017,spid=2,maid=1,view=2
Heres a pic of one of the aerials looks as if theres just a face plate held on with a screw. Dont know if this applies to your aerial or not?? Be careful a lot of springs etc dont fall out if you remove this!!! If you want to attempt a strip down I would be inclined to do it on the bench after removing it from the car.

Thanks all !
I received an email from a supplier saying that as grober says they can be opened up to get the broken pieces taken out (I think they harden & crack with age) a total of three torq (torque?) screws.
I shall pick a new mast up & give it a go!
once again many thanks for your comments.
Chris

Have now taken the aerial off & the cover just clips off - the only problem is the toothed belt that drives it inside has SNAPPED!!! - I don't suppose anyone knows where to get a spare belt from. It seems a shame to throw it away for the sake of a new belt.

Cheers

Bad news started the car, switched on the radio today to find that my antenna no longer goes up and is stuck all the way down. The surprising thing is that i only replaced it with a new genuine Hirschmann 11 a while back. Usually when i switched on the radio i could hear the moter making a noise whilst the antenna would go up but now i hear no noise so am presuming the motor is gown. Im a bit p****d of at this matter as i only replaced the antenna and I know that the stealers will rip me off for a new moter. Im now also getting a poor FM reception aswell. Any help or advice welcome

Thanks In Advance

Look in Yellow pages for drive belt suppliers. Fenner comes to mind and I used to use a local company for a difficult to obtain belt. They are all available and the original will probably have the size and pitch marked on it.

Thanks I'll have a ring round & see if I can find a belt supplier or a repair kit.
Cheers
