Does anyone have any experience of modding the standard factory fit alarm system?
I am in the process of adding an alarm pager to my CLK. I bought a system off e-bay for £30 (new, Toad system, has a range of about 500 yards in built up area) - it's really quite good. However - the MB alarm system seems to be quite complicated in that it uses the canbus for practically everything. This makes connection of the pager quite complicated. All that I want to do now is get a signal for 'alarm activated' (ie sounding). I really wanted this to come from the siren activation line - but it is proving difficult. The WIS shows three connections to the siren; +12v, 0v, and the third connection mystically titled 'data'. I need a connection that either goes positive to 12v or goes to hard down to 0v when the alarm sounds.
Can anyone help?
Has anyone else done this mod? If so, how did you do it?
