MB Main dealer cant fix this ! can anyone else help?

I just rang the dealer and am gonna pick the cables tomorrow. They should be able to find the part for you easily.

From any MB dealer, the Part Number is here:

This is for the M271 engine, and you need two.

Thanks, but I cannot see the part number in your post.

Could you please re-post it?

Thanks,
Attila

They will have to replace loom also and fit the blocks that stop this happening again
Very common fault pity it seams you got caught too fix this not the garage that may have known this before sale

well its not the ecu that has been checked with no problems found just completely stuffed now mercedes still want to install a new ecu at the cost of 1000 quid even tho its not the problem what next...

Hang on people I had another read through the post and the engine no leapt out at me-- 11195132078815 its a M111 engine and its 2 LITRE ! Must be one of the last fitted to the W203. As such it may not have the wiring loom oil migration problem of the later M271 engine - it will only have one inlet camshaft adjuster afaik for example. Can the OP post a couple of pics of his engine and the ECU [ is it located on the engine?] please so we have a better idea of what we are dealing with. These M111 engines are damn good engines normally so worth persevering a bit more with it imho. If your local MB dealer can't fix it, maybe time to let someone else [ another MB dealer or MB independent] have a go?? They probably want to change the ECU because the problem may not manifest itself till the engine compartment gets really hot at other times it will test correctly. The problem still appears to me to some sort of wiring loom voltage fluctuation which can throw up lots of strange fault codes through electrical " noise"

Its not the oil into the ecu problem at all so far they have changed an oil sensor a control panel in the passenger door a new battery and a different ECU they are now suggesting to put a new factory ECU even tho the old one tested ok. What they do is raise a persistent problem with mercedes who will loan them a new ecu for 20% of the cost if it works you pay £1000 if not you pay £ 200.0 just to test it. Just out of interest the person who owned the car before put a new leather steering wheel on the car plus added leather upholstery and also upgraded the headlights ? could this be part of the problem ??

Well if any of the wires were messed-up during the upgrade... it's CANBUS so everything is possible....

just some pics of the offending vehicle

The 111 also suffers with oil in the loom.

Hi Again all
Well the Car is now fixed ! Firstly thank you all for your input and advice, but just to let you know that the car is finaly fixed and dandy it was solved by a mechanic who works for our local ford dealership. After wasting close on a thousand quid with the MB dorchester who finally gave up a true grease monkey who actually looked under the bonnet and discovered that the wiper bar ( thats the bar thet keeps the wipers together under the bonnet ) was chaffing the wiring loom and of course would only raise its ugly head when it rained. ( Lateral thinking you see ) The cost of the fix was just a piece of electrical tape plus 200 quids worth of labour to discover the problem. I am soooo pleased. Now to do battle with MB Dorchester with the pending massive bill that I am expecting for the investigatoy stuff which I am certain will be hours at £150.00 per hour. Even though I have so far paid out £ 600.00 for stuff that the car did not need. Will keep you posted as to the outcome. But once again thank you all for your support and advice .
PS love my merc again
dave

Well I guess we got as far as the wiring loom, :o but as always diagnosis at a distance is pretty hit and miss. Glad you got it sorted.:thumb:

Glad it's fixed. It did look like a wiring issue.
