A year on and 5088 miles later the car was again due an MOT and the 108000 mile service – although she has only done 98129 miles. This is a biggie as all fluids – engine, gearbox, brakes and coolant – require replacement along with plugs and filters.
I wasn’t aware of any other problems, though I specifically asked for all suspension links and bushes to be checked (I thought I'd heard a ‘clunk’ in France) although I know it’s covered by the MOT.
Well, of course, she sailed through and no additional work was required for the service.
With a full MBSH until now, this is the first time I have used Deutsch Marque and I'll use them in future. Despite there being no problems – which, I suppose, they could have invented as they had not seen the car before - I found the guys helpful and willing to chat about this ‘n’ that, including the usual guff: "looks like she’s straight out of the showroom..."
You don’t generally get that from the receptionist at the glossy dealers, though I’ve always been quite happy with Western.
Specialists are thin on the ground in Scotland so Deutsch Marque can pretty well set their prices as long as they are significantly less then Western Mercedes – now approaching £90 per hour.
I always feel a bit pipped when you lash out a heap of dough and the car comes back feeling just about the same as before, but if it is always in tip top condition anyway, then I can live with it!
Oils, engine & g/box - -------------------..£99
Filters, plugs, brake fluid & antifreeze etc - £45
Labour (5hrs) - -------------------------£309
VAT - -----------------------------------£80
MOT - ----------------------------------.£50
Total - ---------------------------------£583
