MB World urgent. "one man, one engine"

Surely MB know the serial number of the engine and hence the VIN of the car it went into ?

They could track it down via the dealer network i'm sure if they put their mind to it.

I don`t see a point though!!If i`ve got a car that it took me a while to find with the colour and spec i like, why on earth leave it there?!!If is a classic is different, but a newish car.By the way, they pay the owner of this over £700pm just to keep it there

That interesting do they pay for all the classics to be displayed or just this one ? Who do i contact to display my S124 e36t AMG at MB World ? Just checked my SL 55 AMG engine name :(.

They should do but i don`t think they`ll take two w124s,but worth a try.Your car sounds very nice, put some pic if you can asl we are having a w124 gtg in July in London.I`ll be nice if you can come

I just don't get why you would put your car in MB World when you could be driving it. Obviously a classic is different, but not a modern car.

Depends on the car. If it's never seen rain then you're more likely to think that its not such a bad idea.

I prefer to drive my cars regardless of weather. I'd hate to think something was kept in perfect condition just because its rare, rather than use it well and enjoy it for what it is. But everyone is wired differently.

Thanks for the threat revival. Though unfortunately no one seems to be knowledgeable on this. Either that or I've been misinformed / made a fool of. Shame the MB enthusiast in me really wanted this to happen.

Alex, a rep from MB world, confirmed (yesterday) that there was one AMG engine that had a two signatures because one of the engineers broken their leg, so another engineer finished it. When it came to the signature they didn't know which name to put on it so they just signed it by both.
If this car exists it should be relatively straight forward to track it down.

Alex has confirmed the car exists and seems to be aware of the details (broken leg etc...) This leads me to think he has contacts with MB

Now lets say Alex wanted to confirm the car he was looking at was the 'real deal' and not someone with a dremmel. Why doesnt he ask his contact in MB for the VIN?

All he needs is the VIN off the engine and a cursory enquiry to DVLA will throw up the registered keeper ;)

Interesting post guys, mine has only the one :/

bet this turns out to be a wind up,but i would love to know how many people checked their car :D
