Meet at Wheels In Motion - Coming Soon

Hi everyone,

There is a regular discussion by members discussing tyres, wheels and alignment issues, Mercs pulling to the left etc. And recently a member commented that it would be good to have a meet at Wheels In Motion (WIM) as this is their speciality and a number of members have put up testimonials about the services provided by WIM.

I've discussed this with WIM and they would be very happy to host an event, which would be when the weather is somewhat nicer and on a Sunday. However, at this stage I'd like to gauge interest in such an event and gather your ideas of what you might find useful a such a meet/event.

Some initial thoughts are:

1. Lot's of free advice
2. A lucky MB might get a free alignment done
3. There could be some specific guidance on alignment health status of cars attending
4. We might be able to find someone to bring a Star machine to conduct some other health checks
5. An opportunity to get some new tyres (bear in mind WIM have touchless tyre machines)

These are all just thoughts at this stage and subject to sponsorship from WIM and others so not a guarantee all these things can happen.

Please let me know if you have some ideas and are interested in this event. Assuming there is sufficient interest I will organise this with WIMin due course.

To explain our meets, here we go.....

1: They are held on a Sunday in the hope many members can attend.

2: The retail park is empty, safe and secure.

3: Everything is free, no one spends a penny at our meets.

4: We will feed and water you or we can have outside catering at a reduced cost, contradicts #3 but what do you want.

5: All cars that are measured are done so by raffle, that way everyone has a chance to get a free image of the chassis.

6: Due to the nature of the MB chassis and time it will not be possible to adjust every car.

7: In view of the above maybe one lucky winner can have the chassis adjusted free.... you tell me.

8: All those who have a free image will be given all the information, including a printout for the solution to the problem. This means the members can go to the place of their choice for the geometry, wim will support you during your calibration even if this is outside of wim.

9: Any members who decide to book with us for chassis calibration will be given a discount.

10: Tyre packages will be offered to members either on or at a later date if stock is an issue.

11: Other verdures can attend, anything from detailing advice to a rolling road, or maybe wheel repair?

12: Point to note, come summer time we are booked weeks and weeks in advance on the chassis side of things, so please be patient.

14: Please be honest about the numbers..... Each meet costs me around 2K in insurance/ staff/ running costs and so on. This is a genuine offer for members to meet in a safe secure environment.

Why the meet?
I love the MB build but hate it's historic problems. The meet will allow us to dispel misinformed internet chatter and place owners in a better understanding of this geometry stuff.
