Mercedes Autonomous Cars

Early attempts by Toyota did not end well....:D

I'm amazed at all the hand-wringing that's going on about this hypothetical scenario where a driver is going to have to choose whether to hit a nun, mum or son (it's always an emotive choice of person - never a 40 year old singleton) or a tree.

I honestly can't think of a scenario where a driver who was paying attention and driving within the law would find themselves in a situation where they would be liable for the consequences of hitting a pedestrian. If a human driver wouldn't be liable, the same should go for an autonomous car that meets those criteria.
