Mercedes benz 300 se rare manual

That's a good car for anyone wanting to do a manual with a V8 (as AMG did back in the day for w126s)....clutch assembly, clutch plate, mechanisms etc all in place, one only then needs to sort out the manual transmission to mate to the m117 and bingo.

A V8 with low gears and vauge sloppy changes, rather than a 300SE with low gears and vauge sloppy changes...

'Cept it's usually the linkage not the gearbox that's at fault. Put some nice Rose joints on the lever end of the rods and bush the rubber lowers so they're not in direct contact and the whole thing tightens up nicely. It'll never be a slick Jappo change but not sloppy at all.

Correct, just because it ain't good with the 300SE, don't mean a manual won't be good with a V8. AMG made it work back in the 80's....all that's being used are the assembly components....the actual transmission would have to be spec'd bespoke.

Renntech also made manuals work superbly with their w124 500E upgrades.

Manual is the only way to have real fun. MB did it very well with their Cossie's.

There was some e300 w124s with the same dogleg 5 speed gearbox fitted to.

I had a 320TE 124 with one fitted and still have it. Patiently sitting waiting for a project.
And a Getrag 262 D/L from a BMW 3 series which is the one E Type owners retro-fit instead of the 4speed. Anyone any idea what that's worth? I need the space.
