My CLS has gone for a B service and MOT today at MB

If I take our a service care plan I can spread the cost over 24 months.

£60 a month for the next 24 moths will cover me for this B service my next A service and the Next B service. With inclusion of a courtesy car.

£315 B service x2 = £630
+ Brake fluid @ £61 x2 Air filter at £70 x2 and Fuel filter @ £101 x2
£225 A service x1 = £225
+ Carbon filter @ £70 on the B service

+£50 a time for a loan car x 3 = £150

Total of £1539.00 individually

£60 x 24 = £1440 for the service plan but if I cancel early a £30 admin fee

Am I missing something or is this a reasonable deal? Also the car is now at 99,997 miles. and on an 06 plate so out of warranty

I took the Service Plan when I picked up my new car, it's £32 a month for our C350 CGi Coupe.

you save quite a bit, it's a great idea by MB.

24 months would be one B service and one A. When I looked into it there didn't seem to be any saving as such just spreading the costs and remember you can haggle down the price of the service. My last B was £289 which is a good way off where they started!

Checked all through the service book and they are right, only date related things are 2 and 4 years. Your service book will be the same as mine as it covers all E and CLS models of that age. Apparently cars either side of 05 and 06 are every twelve months but not ours.

Therefore you won't be getting all the services you think you will for your £60/mth which would explain why the cost seemed so reasonable.

You can always get the oil changed elsewhere every twelve months if you want peace of mind.

?? I assumed the A and B were every 12 months ?? But are you saying that they are not? Sorry if that sounds dim

I am sure I read somewhere that is should be every 15,000 or 12 months whichever comes first

Nope, I was told that when I bought it and was why I had booked it in, but it includes them, the service department specifically checked and the service book states what are extras for the 55 so it's the right book too. I was impressed they were honest about it but they did say they'd still do it if I really wanted them too

Like I said, it's apparently only that couple of years that this applies to.

A few thoughts:

1) As someone else said, around 2007 (although it seems to vary a bit) the cars moved from variable intervals to fixed. My car is older and I only do about 7000 miles per year of long steady journeys but it always goes to 2 years. Make sure the dealer will do 3 services rgeardless of how long it takes for them to come up.

2) The plans work best financially if there's an ATF change involved as that costs £250-£350.

3) It looks a reasonable deal if you compare it to "rack" rates for service work. In the past the dealers would heavily discount work on older cars and I have benefitted from that. Often they would discount by 40% on 7yr old cars.
However very recent experience has shown that they're not keen to do that now and Mercedes is clearly trying to move all dealers onto the MyService https://www.mymercedesservice.co.uk/home system and that quotes very high pricing - which makes ServiceCare look a good deal.


My personal thoughts are that ServiceCare is great as you can lose the monthly payment in "noise" and not get a big bill at service time. However I think it should be much cheaper to reflect the committment that you're making to MB and because it gives the dealer chance to sell you extra work. I took mine in for a basic service the other day and ended up with a £500+ bill as both front springs needed replacing.

Make sure the dealer will do 3 services regardless of how long it takes for them to come up.

The plans work best financially if there's an ATF change involved as that costs £250-£350.

If they are telling my I will get 3 I will make bloody sure I do

ATF was done just after i bought the car so should be good for another few miles yet, although not done by MB so may still pop up on their system as required at some point.

I think "officially" it's a one-off change at about 37500 miles, but they keep changing it.

I was regaled with massive and terrifying lists of work, but in practice if you're on a service contract then they will only do what comes up on the Electronic Service System (ESS). That meant my car has had remarkably little servicing.

I have just spoken to them again, it definitely covers me for 3 services, so up till 2016, which will be a B again, this and yes is is annually based on the mileage I do.

They also found that the turbo oil seal were starting to leak, so getting that done and they also want me part with £350 for 2 new rear tyres, but that will be covered by my new wheels When I get them

B service was £295 and a is £205, so not a lot in it really. And yes I think once these next ones are done if I still have it, it will go to an indy, its got full MBSH so its worth it for now.

But just fallen in LOVE with a cute little CLA in red

So that will be the replacement once someone else has done the depreciation for me in about 2 years

I'll say, mine still don't charge...although you can pay for it if you use the MB web booking system rather than just going in and speaking to someone!

I am sorry to spoil your mood, but BMW sells 5 year service plan, up to 50k miles for £500.

Also I'm sorry to rub it in even further. I got my 2013 C63 service plan for £10 per month. It wasn't brand new either, I bought it as a demo

My local dealer has only just been added to MyService and they seemed shocked when I pointed out it was adding £50 for a loan car. They charge £15 for the insurance, and I've never paid that as my LV= policy covers it automatically.

Servicing costs seem to vary around dealers. I've been quoted £475 from when I bought the car in November, and recently £575 for the same B service.
My indie charges £295 (last time I had one) and includes brakes, which the dealer doesn't.
