I believe its the ignition module thats gone, thats why it runs on 2 cylinders, common fault for W202 C200 and C180.

I have already experienced this with loads of C class, Approx 10 of them.

unit looks like this with two plugs fitted under the windscreen washer bottle, each plug control 2 cyclinder.
