Can these Speedshift-MCT gearboxes really take the neck-end of 900 lb/ft of torque? If so, then that's remarkable, seeing how much hassle VW had with getting the Veyron box to handle what amounts to little more twist in the that car....

My guess is "no"

I cannot see these boxes taking a genuine 900lbs of torque for long before breaking!

My guess is we will see plenty of threads on this forum in a couple of years relating to broken boxes....

that's a lot of power and torque. wonder what it must feel like to wrestle with that much torque in the midrange!. I've got to say that the noise levels are a bit more than I could cope with too. What is achievable with stock exhaust - cats and resonator?

It's a good strong box but I can't see it lasting for too long once you up the torque.

Mine was starting to get a little slippy so I sent it across to Weistec who rebuilt it to their "bullet proof" specs. Not as smooth now, in fact it's notchy at times, but instant shifting and it seems to handle all the torque I can throw at it.

That's very impressive. Maybe the 5.5TT is running out of flow at the top-end, so gains of a free-flowing exhaust system aren't that huge. At least until you swap turbos / downpipes etc.

How does it drive? the standard map has a pretty flat torque curve, and the remap has a bit of a hump in the midrange. does it cause it to feel a bit flat at the top end as torque drops from the peak value? or is it just so fast you're not really trying to rev it out.

No feels like it's always building power imo even though what the torque curve says

Me too - 100lb/ft is a lot of extra torque to find too

I believe that acid has a evolution of your old maps.

Mine made 760bhp and 813lb/ft without downpipes or decat. This map caps but extends the torque band for longer before tailing off. Not perfect yet on mine but not far off and with a decat will yield more torque, not that it's needed. My torque is capped due to not having a decat or downpipes. Interestingly the decat is delivering similar to downpipes.

Thanks to Acid and the lads for their service and doing a great job on the car.
Just to confirm it's got no cats or resonator now with just the back box in place.
The difference is phenomenal and you can tell the map has really upped the turbos and it's cool hearing them spool down through the exhaust.

Gearbox wise, if I was doing race starts I'm sure eventually one day it would crunch but I'm all about mid range, 3rd to 4th shifts, so not as hammering on the box I guess.

Loud wise it's really loud, no, I should say bonkers loud but I don't mind because it's my weekend car, I go to work in my trusty diesel estate. Just to give you an idea on how loud it is, if I was in a row of cars at the traffic lights and I revved it, the person 15 cars behind me would still hear it. I love the noise and the attention it gets.
I started it from cold yesterday morning because I had to move it and my neighbour 2 doors down texted me to say wtf was that explosion.

I'm so happy with it. The best mid life crisis tonic

Well spotted. I'm keeping my eye on this, I know decatted cars are a little more smokey but I'm still going to keep an eye on it. I've had a friend follow me and he didn't notice any obvious smoke, also I don't see much haze at night with the cars behind me shining their headlights.

Will probably oil change it this weekend.

Not sure mate but I know he is always perfecting it .

It's probably linked to the map my car has installed, it even has an extra feature that I am sure will split opinion lol. It was installed early January. I'm going back next week to get it finished and will do a write up on everything MSL did with the car.
