Hopefully a 300ce soon!
Could someone please explain or post a link for me to find out what these numbers elaborate too please.

Thanks..

Cheers for that sort of makes sense.

So whats a CE

a C124??

The C used to stand for coupe and the E for injection/electronic, however dont read too much into the letters - they can mean different things according to the model e.g.

280 SE 2.8 litre s class injection
280 SEL 2.8 litre s class injection long wheelbase
280 S 2.8 litre s class non injected (yes there was one)
280 CE 2.8 litre coupe injection (not an s class)

but........

350 SL sports light
350 SLC sports light coupe

Of course those were a long time ago.... my memory is getting a bit hazy ;)

Thanks for the info

All a bit confusing, ive got my head around the classes (i think).

Its the w124 numbers etc that are confusing me.

All the series W124 are basically the same shape ....

E being the saloon up to 93 then E becomes the saloon and coupe

CE being the coupe until 93 when it becomes E

TE or T being the estate until 93 when it becomes E

Pre 93, cars were badged for example 300 E whereas after 93 it became an E 320.

However, coupes pre 93 could have been a 230CE, 300CE, or 300CE-24 but after 93 the engine size was changed and they became E220 or E320

Estates pre 93 were 200TE , 230TE , 300TE or 300TE-24 afterwards, they became E220 or E320

Saloons that were 200E ,230E ,260E 300E or 300E-24 became E220, E280, E320 again some of the engines were phased out on the facelift.

So basically pre 93 cars are badged 200, 230, 260, 300 E

Post facelift cars are badged E 220, 280, 320

There are anomalies though such as the w124 E500/500E , the E36 AMG and the american market 400E but don't worry about them

I think thats it, if anyone else can think of anything i have forgotton, please add it on. Cheers
