Mercedes Cosworth

Has the boot lid been resprayed? Looks a bit "orange peely" to me and the boot badges are missing!

The boot is reflecting the frosted glass in the house door.

Certainly one of the better examples as they go, but there's a few areas I'm not so happy with (IMO :) ):

Dodgy looking rear exhaust
Aftermarket front grille
'Halfords' floor mats
Aftermarket steering wheel - non OEM
Lack of boot badges, although could be an original request?

On the plus side, it's got full leather and the owner seems to have maintained it to a pretty good standard. It's certainly worth saving and definately worth a look, however it's been listed under 'parts' instead of 'cars' and there's no details of mileage/MOT/Tax etc?

Seen a lot worse :)

So just the exhaust then................

The other bits are of no consequence - you picky .............:D

He's listing it in that section to avoid the fees, but will also avoid exposure.

Looks a good, straight one. Same colour as mine that I got rid of in 02. The history of it would be a concern along with it mileage.

It does say in red at the top of the description 99000 miles ....

How true this is you obviously would need to verify .... ;)

Also, being in the wrong section, if his car sells at BIN he will have to pay a whopping £86.60 FFV. If he had listed in the correct section he would have paid £8 to list the car and £38 FFV if it was sold. Just noticed the Motors fees have gone up since a couple of weeks ago. I sold my C200 for a £6 listing fee and £15 FFV - £21 in total - Cheaper than a listing in Auto Trader :)

Sorry Pierre ...

I wasn't referring to your post but to Wills .... :o

I was meaning the 99k quoted would concern me.

Notorious for being fiddled with.........

Yep - I think 99k is a clockers favourite. There are hundreds of cars on eBay with a 99k mileage reading.

Yep you're right Howard, Missed the 99K miles at the top :o

Silly thing with the listing of a car worth this amount in 'parts' is that not only is he less likely to get 'hits' on his listing, and it looks a bit unprofessional, he'll end up paying more in final value fees as the value is quite high ;)

I am being slightly picky but then again it pays to be when critiqueing a second hand car.

Things like 'barry' exhausts / aftermarket parts often speek volumes as to a car's history/ownership etc ;)

2.3-16s and 2.5-16s are only worth strong money if in good condition and unmolested.

Obviously IMO but I'm only going on experience :)

Indeed.

When i sold mine I had people going over it like it was a Van Gough. They attract geeks of the highest order - I guess it a compliment to the standard of the car.

I got a good price for mine but it was 100% standard, down to the tyre valve caps and had a total history.

I actually hate 190s other than the Cosworth - a step of the gas IMHO for Merc.

Being a ...?

Sarcasm/whit.

Never mind.

Atually 80k is the usual clockers' reading post fiddling.

Apparently it makes the car look like it's been used but not ragged and implies lots of motorway use.

I was actually agreeing with you father and not being sarcastic at all. I see many sellers on eBay listing different cars and all at 99k. Not surprising that the service history has been 'lost by the previous owner'.

Edit: I can see why you took my comment to be sarcastic now. I was actually agreeing with you as I said before. If I was being sarcastic I would have used a 'roll eyes' or something...

Ah.........

;)

Toooooo much Guinness is skewing my judgement.

Back on track, I'd also be sus about the car being in N Ireland but still on UK plates, unless he's not had it long (again, a reason to be sus).

I spent 4 yrs out there back in the day (forces) and every mainland car was re-registered due to the fact that it made your car stand out as a target for vandalism. I know the situation has improved, but having a mainland reg car out there is still not wise.

No problem. You can PM me what you meant by **** and we can have it out man to man in private :D ;)

I asked you if you were being a ****, **** or ****!

I never accused you of being one - I simply asked if you were being one!

When are you selling yours Will? Looks like the best example I've seen :) I want it ;)
