Mercedes dealer workshops ...work dwindling?

To be fair to MB, they sent someone to check my car & he found a couple of things that I was not aware of. Only advised me, no outlandish quotes to fix.

1. Power steering fluid low.
2. Rear indicator bulbs had lost some of the orange paint and were starting to look too white. (MOT failure or excuse for cops to pull you over)

I like too keep on top of maintenace, but the power steering reservoir is under the engine cover, so not checked often enough. The rear bulbs I never thought of looking at as the dash warning tells you when they fail but not that the orange paint is peeling off.

I thought the guy was very thorough and was pleased nothing serious was amiss, best of all it was free.

I was surprised by Doncaster this week. Booked in for a service at 3pm on Monday, for Tuesday morning. Clearly not that busy.

Competitive cost of £200 for an A service, but then they blew the goodwill they had earned from me the next day to earn themselves £20.

Shall not be back other than perhaps for service - maybe not even then.

How? what did they do?

Just read your wheels / tyres thread. :D

This sums up main dealers for me...

Car went for a B service all well and good.

I got a red advisory notice for a oil leak coming from the rocker covers, quite bad apparently. When I challenged the service guy about the oil leak he got the tech out to explain the situation to me. His words were " I wouldn't worry about it mate, it's a really small leak, it just looks damp"

They wanted to charge me nearly £500 to fix it...

i got a phone call from inchscape asking whether they could send a mechanic out to me to give my s600 a free checkup. lol prob looking for another 4k repair bill.

When I was in for my last MOT at Chester (also owned by Inchcape) I was chatting to another customer and he was most surprised that they hadn't sent someone out to pre-check my car, as they had for him.

In 6 years of using MB Chester, they've *never* done anything more than the absolute bare minimum for me.
