mercedes e230 gearbox issue

Hi can anybody help .
I have a 1997 Mercedes e class 230 she is a lovely old car and generally goes well till recently I began to have problems with the automatic gearbox when driving forward it is fine .
But when you go to reverse it some times locks up like I put it into Park .
I have changed the oil and filter but no change . I would appreciate any advice on this as I've never had any problems like this before thank you

Probably worth checking for play in the selector?
