Mercedes E63s Estate 2014 Project Time @ MSL Performance

Right Today We have a few more parts

AMS Turbo Cooler system and Auxiliary Heat Exchanger

Alpha E63 Cooling

Never tried this cooling system so again wanted to see what its gonna be like. Its not the cheapest of items but with extra cooling it should make a good difference in keep the IATs Low.
The Auxiliary Heat exchanger I had in stock as it the same one used in the A45. The E63s comes with 2 Auxiliary heat exchangers but I will only change 1 as they are £700 each to buy, not sure that they will make a lot of difference with the Primary Bigger Heat exchanger and with the extra tank that will be fitted under the wing.

Weistec M157 Downpipes and Exhaust, E63 RWD - Exhaust - 2012-2017 RWD (W212 / M157) - E 63 - E - Products

Weistec True Turbo Down Pipes - We have fitted lots of Downpipes but Weistec have the best quality and plus I had a set in stock. Other Companies like IPE, CKS Fi, Supersprint do Turbo back Down Pipes for a lot for less money.

Idea is to fit the Down + Mid pipes to a custom 3" system straight through with capristo valved back boxes just incase it sounds anti social !!

Weistec Transmission Pan

Weistec 722.9 Transmission Pan - 722.9 MCT Transmission - 2012-2017 RWD (W212 / M157) - E 63 - E - Products

Better cooling, hold more fluid and can add additional Cooler

I Hope to start some Work Monday and will post some more pics Acid

Excited for this keep us updated acid

Great thread Acid and really looking forward to seeing the options, mods, outcomes etc etc etc

Wishing you all the best, but I gotta say that an estate is going to need an awful lot of power to go 200mph as the aero sucks badly on them.

I couldn’t get mine to go over 182mph at TV in good conditions and it had your map and the Revo downpipes. The CD is significantly higher than the saloon.

Few Updates Today

Stock System Removed and Weistec Down Pipes fitted

Full system not fitted Yet but will be done next few days

Yes agreed Not gonna be easy but I like a challenge , I think the Estate is about 80kg Heavier then a Saloon. I hope 900 bhp will do the trick, I am confident Daves / Alps car should hit 200 mph with 850 bhp cant wait till the next vmax200.

It's not the weight that's the problem. The vertical drop at the rear of the car is an aerodynamic disaster and creates a huge low pressure hole that is dragging the car back. You'd need a huge CLS rear shaped wing/spoiler to mitigate for it.

I tried everything on the runs I had, full auto, manually changing up before/at/after peak torque, starting 100 yards behind the start line, 182 was the very best with 180/181 more often than not.

Presumably more power overcome the aerodynamic ability?

From what I can make out the Cd of the W212 in E63 guise is circa 0.27 while the S212 is circa 0.32. We can assume that the two cars have the same frontal area.

As aero provides the main drag component at very high speeds (close to 100%), to hit any given speed the Estate would require almost 18.5% more power. And 200mph requires roughly 15.5% more power than 186mph (in the same car).

Add all that together and an S212 would require roughly 37% more power to hit 200mph than a W212 does to hit 186mph. Eek!

As well as a CLS rear end shaped spoiler(!), removing the door mirrors and roof rails would help :D

Hmm. That might require some serious modifications.

Fit a supercharger? :D

Well There is Only one way to find out ! Lets get the bets in !!

Also is there a better/ Free site to share my pics on the forums as photo bucket want to charge $400 per year????

Thanks for taking the time to do the maths lol. I knew you’d step up. I reviewed the Cd prior to the event and knew it was impossible to match a saloon or Chris’ CLS.

So that's 1164.5bhp then?^^^^^^

Blimey, no wonder I couldn’t get anywhere near 200mph Hahaha. There was an RS6 Avant there that was also topping out at 182mph. That really is a brick wall limit for a 700ish hp estate car.

No problem Acid....turbo upgrade (weistec water meth for IAT) and a squirt of NOS.....200mph with 1200bhp no bother.

You know you will so don't try and deny it lol
