Readers of this illustrious magazine will see why they were not interested in the recent GTG. They were busy with another one at the Ace Cafe. Still, this does not excuse their bad manners in not returning a phone call.......

COSWORTH Article in Enthusiast

Couple of articles of interest this month for us "oldies". One on a virtually unused w124 coupe (pity about the colour but you cant have everything) and an "in depth??" on the 2.3-16v, 2.5-16v cosworth 190's.

When I spoke to them back in April the to$$er from "Mercedes Enthusiast" was rude and had no telephone manners what so ever and gav ethe impression that I was wasting his time... I dont even buy the Magazine anymore as have lost comoplete intrest in it now...

Our MB Club GTGs are the best...

I’m not a to$$er so I wouldn’t know…!!! :p :D

Admittedly I don't know anyone who works on Mercedes Enthusiast magazine, but as your only outlet for Mercedes is it not rather like shooting yourself in the foot to slag it off publically.

I too would rather attend Ace Cafe German night than turn up to a car park with 10-15 standard mercedes outside of London. Photos from the former are more likely to sell the magazine, though admittedly I'd imagine readership in general is slightly more mature.

After my OEM wheel topic I can see where M.E. are coming from.

Having said all that I'm making presumptions, I've never even picked up a copy of this magazine, though a freelance photographer is nagging me to take pics of my car to sell to them. I've told him it's not finished yet, and I'm not convinced they'll like the style of the car.

David H - no one has slagged anyone off as actual "facts" have been stated of our interactions/communication with "Mercedes Enthusiast" of what has "actually" taken place!!! I openly said that the person I spoke to about our recent GTG was "to$$er" and he was representing Mercedes Enthusiast. Slagging someone off is saying things behind their back that are not true and I openly would call this guy I spoke to at Mercedes Enthusiast a "to$$er to his face!!!

We always enjoy ourselves at our GTGs and went for drinks/meal at our last one. Maff’s car is not a standard CL65 AMG as is modded to do 700BHP!!! Graemes W140 7.3L Brabus was no standard car in addition to the other AMGs that we had there as well as Gravs’ one which iw modded to do 500BHP and the owners were kind enough to take us for drives/spins in them in numbers!!! Now that is what I call fun!!! KLP’s W126 is no standard car either….

There speaks someone who wasnt at the last GTG I was at! Ride 1 Maffs 739bhp CL65AMG (er slightly modified) , Drive 2 Gravs 500bhp E55 AMG (Modified)
ride 3 SLK55AMG (Scumbags), then a look over 30 other beautifully prepared mercedes. Fastlady brought a pagoda SL, Peters C43AMG just arrived from planet clean.........

I'm sure others who were there didnt regard it as boring.

Edit. Sorry Flash you can type faster than me!

Totally agree,
If you want to get someone onside then why not tell them their breath stinks, they can't drive and their partner has body odour. I'm sure that will really impress them.

I believe they produced a very nice humorous article on Maff's previous flying machine and I would love to see them at my little GTG, they would be most welcome and hopefully they might see a very nice, friendly group of folks with a common interest, plus we all have a great sense of humour.

Exactly thats my point - he (the to$$er from Mercedes Enthusiast) spoke to me like i was "dirt" and wasting his time and I was polite....!!!!

Mercedes Enthusiast have never attended one of our GTGs or done anything for our Forum and we are doing fine as we are... I hope that they read this post too.

How many times have they said they'd do an article, or attend a GTG or, or...... They dont give a stuff and IMHO we dont need them at all. We are a free club for enthusiasts they are a rather stuffy magazine in need of circulation and driven by the need to make profit.

I was not at either GTG, but from what has been posted, and from what I read in ME, I think the better selection of cars was not at the ACE cafe.

Not only were the cars great at the GTG BUT all the people there were great to...

Just remember, Ace Cafe is frequented by Max Power and the like.....

I don't think we do want MBE onside any more. We (as in Koolvin and the longer term mods) gave up on them a long time ago.

I really think we have more to offer them than the other way around. The publication is pretty weak IMO.

Drugs ruled typing finger and I have edited my previous post. I personally still enjoy reading Mercedes Enthusiast, it is in no way perfect, far from it, but is there a better magazine out there?

They certainly do not need this forum and likewise does this forum need there support?

How many truly active members are there on this excellent forum?
How many of those subscribe to this monthly magazine?

I would love to see this magazine do an expose on the rust issues with the modern range of models, but in the real world most, if not all magazines will never bite the hand that feeds them.

Off topic I know but is there an easy way of answering John's question. In excess of 8,000 members is an impressive statistic but it is very rare to see 50 online at any one time.

Hopefully no one will think for one minute that I am criticising this excellent forum, but when it shows fifty members online, I just wonder who these fifty members are?

Hmm - true, but how many people read ME at exactly the same time?

There must be a few hundred 'regular' members at least, as well as a few silent ones and people who browse only once in a while - I don't read ME every month ;)
