Hi folks. Just joined. Am looking at this car Used Mercedes-benz Slk Convertible 3.0 Slk280 7g-tronic 2dr in Portsmouth, Hampshire | Urban Autos
To be used as a winter commuter when not riding / cycling. The number plate is LF55YLY, can anyone retrieve the engine number please? I’m trying to see if it’s one of the affected M272? Engines and the dealer has now closed..... anyone help, with just the engine number please?

Catch the dealer in the morning for the Vin# and put yourself out of misery. Good luck.

The 2005 SLK280 does have the sometimes problematic M272 engine with balance shaft issues.

Ask the seller,
I know some are reluctant to provide, but I don't see there is good reason for that.

I prefer to do the data check prior to travelling to see a vehicle,
and on the consideration of security if they are unable to provide the VIN it maybe that they don't have the vehicle to sell.
