I have a Mercedes 190 2.5 diesel with 64.000 kilometres on the clock and I am thinking to fit a turbo on it.Does any one suggest this?,I am thinking to add some more power and torque.

What I have to change from the engine to not blown the engine?
Does the turbo one share the same cylinder head, diesel pump, block, piston etc with the non turbo?

Thanks

I suspect the compression ratio will be different for turbo/non-turbo versions. I think this will be achieved by fitting a different head.
The conversion might cost more than the car is worth.

Hi

I thought that it was only petrol engines that had lower compression when turbo'd and that the diesels were more than fit for the increased combustion forces.

There have been after-market kits for the TD but MB did a lot of work to fit the turbo. The sump capacity was increased, a larger oil pump, hardened crank, modified pistons with special rings and gudgeon pins, revised prechambers and sodium filled exhaust valves.

Thanks for all of you.
I think it's more worth it to change the whole engine with a 2.5 turbo diesel from a c class.
Does any one knows of a junk yard that have these engines and ship out the UK.

You would do better trying to obtain one from Continental Europe as the turbo vesions were always available there but only in the UK after 1996.
