Well, it's time. Our E320cdi is now up for sale. Photos will be up by the beginning of next week, but I wanted to get the ad up now. If we don't sell before deal is done with new car, probably next weekend, the car will be part-exchanged. It would break my heart to see her end up in auction, but we've finally got a new car on the way and it's time.
The car is in beautiful "Zircon Green" with Black Leather. It has 118000 miles and is a 2000 Model Year Elegance on a W plate (currently a private plate but it will go back to its own W plate before sale). It has a full service history and a pile of paperwork - old MOT's, receipts for work which has been done, V5 of course, stamped service book. It has been serviced and looked after by Olly of Prestige Car Services, who is very active on this forum. Because of his reasonable prices (much better than main dealer!), I have been able to look after the car well.
The car has had a full COMAND system retro-fitted by Alfie of comand.co.uk. The system has been coded to the centre console and displays directions there. It works extremely well and has navigated us all over Europe.
The car has had rust problems repaired under warranty by Mercedes. This was actually a "goodwill gesture" but MBUK, you can find the thread on this forum. The rust has kept off well after the treatment - there is a small amount starting to show through on the tailgate and one of the wheel arches, which I will point out to any prospective buyer (I'm not afraid of showing it - if anything there's impressively little for a twelve year old car).
The car has a high specification in terms of factory options:
- parametric steering
- automatic dimming/folding mirrors
- rain sensor
- heated/memory/multicontour seats
- automatic transmission
- self-levelling suspension
- automatic climate control
- headlamp cleaning
- courtesy lights
- 11-hole alloys
- increased capacity battery
- cd-changer
- folding bench seat in cargo area
- elegance option package
The bad points:
- There are some scratches and scrapes, although again I'd say she's in pretty good shape for a twelve year old car.
- The rear right hand window does not open; the motor was replaced and now the wire has snapped and has been fixed closed.
- The air conditioning has needed re-gassing every other year, which seems quite often to me. I have had it tested for leaks by three different places and there are seem to be none, and it works well once gassed (it was done in February).
- Rust is *beginning* to show through on the tailgate and near one of the wheel arches - I will point this out clearly to any prospective buyer.
Net: It's a twelve year old car, don't expect a new one, but I think you'll love her
