Hey guys,

I'm getting 4 Michelin crossclimate tyres fitted to the car tomorrow, £250 for a set of 4. It's my first RWD car so want a little extra grip in the silly season, anyone had these tyres fitted to their MB and how do they preform?

Cheers

Alan

I'd also (sorry to half high jack) like to know more about these tyres, if they're a gimmick or something worth buying as I'm due new tyres.

£250 for 4 doesn't sound too bad at all

Considering it was 120 per half decent tyre for my old Vectra, 250 for 4 isn't bad Alan

I had a VXR on 19"s so they definitely sound like a steal! Going to price some up for the MB.

Wonder if anyone here has some fitted already?

I've looked and I've found a lot of people asking, but not many people saying they have them.

Give me a week and a thousand or so miles and I'll let you know :)

What size tyres are you running? I am struggling to find tyres under about £130 each for decent ones 255/35/18

Cross climate are only made up to 17" I had the exact same problem trying to find some for the Golf finally called Michelin who revealed all

That explains it, rather annoying that is!

Hankooks do an updated winter tyre for £105 in that size (Oponeo.com)
Along with 225s for the front, I have having them fitted on Saturday

My first set of winters ever......;)

Cross climates from all the research I have done seem to be the perfect tyre for the UK. Really positive reviews everywhere stating they are the first "true" winter and summer tyre.. I'm also buying 4 for £260 this week for my Mrs C180

I fitted a set about 3 weeks ago. I have fitted winter tyres for the last 3 winters and found them to be excellent in the bad weather. I live in the hills of Yorkshire and winter tyres got me home several times in the snow when normal tyres would have been spinning. This year, thought I'd fit these Michelins as I would not need to change in the spring. Previous winter tyres have always felt vey "soft" compared to the normal Good-Years I used the rest of the year. However these Michelins are excellent and the ride is better than the Good-Years. Yet to try them in the snow, but all the reports say they are as good as winter tyres in snow.

When launched the press release stated the Cross Climates would be made in larger sizes in 2016, although I think a lot will depend upon customer take up on these new niche tyres for Michelin.

Silly question.
I need to put two tyres on the front of Mrs JB's Galaxy - we've got some ridging that I noticed at mot time so will coincide a 4 wheel alignment. Likely not to have it by the summer but you never know....
Always done either Primacy HP's or Contisport Contact 3's. A 17" XL tyre for reference.
Would the pattern of the Crossclimate mean I'd need to do 4 of them instead of just the front? Reason I ask is that the rears are only half worn...and the Crossclimates are around £110 a corner (ouch)
Thx

I've done about 75 motorway miles since I had them fitted yesterday, they seem very quiet on the road, I seem to hear other cars tyre noise over mine on the m-way.

They seems to be quite grippy in the dry, I think the weather is supposed to turn tomorrow and be very wet so we'll see :)

I'll give it a week or so and give you a bit of an update.

I've yet to stop quickly, but I drive through Bradford on a daily basis, so I imagine it won't be long before I have to!!!

Considering the Cross Climates are specifically an all weather tyre biased towards very cold conditions and your present tyres are pure Summers I would be very wary of fitting odd axle mixes of these, it could even be deemed illegal (I am sure somebody will quote any relevant legislation) , at any rate I would think Insurance companies would take a dim view should the worse happen.

No legal obligation as long as they are within the manufacturers specifications and have the legal level of tread on all 4 corners. However I would be inclined to go for a full set as things like ABS ESP and cruise control can sometimes be put out of whack.

I did wonder that.
The reality is that we last had snow 3 years ago here, not even much in the way of frost last year, plus we have an L200 for if/when it does fall. Was just wondering if it was worth it based on having to change 2 x tyres anyway. I don't particularly want to put 4 on for the next owner's benefit!

It snowed here on the weekend or so I thought? (I was in Amsterdam, but people back home said it snowed here and in Coventry)
