Any idea how much the Tier 1 or 2 cover costs for a C32?

Both were the same price: about £900-ish.

Raymont's link shows that the max mileage at start of cover has increased for Tier 1, to that of the Tier 2, so there may now be a differential in price.

It's got the MBClub pedals. I wonder if this is a member's former car. Apologies I can't remember the guys name now - it'll come to me - he lived on the South Coast but bought the car from a dealer in Scotland.

I know who you're thinking of.

Wasn't it 'Machasm'. His car had very, very low mileage when he was selling it - 27k or something like that.

Have you seen this one?

2004 MERCEDES-BENZ C32

from the advert: "PART EXCHANGE TO CLEAR NO WARRANTY GIVEN OR IMPLYED" along with "FEW BITS NEED DOING TO CAR HENCE PRICE" Doesn't exactly fill you with confidence!

As far as I know any trader has to give at least a 3 month warranty, although with this type of car I'd get the best warranty possible. Can you still get a tier 1 warranty if the car does not currently have a MB warranty?

Yes, providing that the mileage is below the appropriate threshold, it's inspected at cost (can be negotiated though), and all identified faults corrected.

Called the dealer and they took it as a p-ex. The problems are alloys need some work, only one key and no service history !!

MBClub pedals? How do I get some?

Thanks Swoz

It doesn't sound like a great example, but not insurmountable.

Alloy refurbishment is ~£250
New key ~£150 (I think)

Sometimes service books are simply lost and with some calling around can be re-issued. Though if it was as easy as that I'd expect the dealer to have done that to add value to the car. But worth a few phone calls anyway.

Edit: personally I'd walk away and look for an easier purchase of a more honest example.

Im pretty sure there must be more to it esp as he wouldnt offer warranty.

He has to give you 3 months, it's the law. Unfortunately, I have heard more than one garage try this line.

As for the service history, you can call MB customer service and they can tell you at which dates/mileage it was serviced at a MB garage. It will probably be impossible to get any history outside that unless you talk to previous owners.

If you are serious I would pay for the MB warranty check to be done to see if anything is wrong with it.

These cars are serious bits of kit and I would personally wait untill you can get one that's been looked after, even then there is no gaurantee nothing will go wrong.

To be honest, I think I'd pay the extra for the one at the beginning of this thread.

New key, wheel refurb, no warranty or service history etc? Is the saving really going to be worth it (or indeed work out) in the long run?

A ~ £1500 difference for a mint car with no issues and full MB warranty is a very cheap premium IMHO.
