ML 270
I have enjoyed owning a few mercedes models all older cars as I never like to pay out to much money. An in fairness they have all ways been good cars. Usuall problems like brakes changing etc same as any car.
So I fancied an ML good old MB reliability ! Haha
Seems to go from one problem to the next. Having had the inlet manifold off yesterday to find that there was no problem with the flaps and motor. Still I have no boost so I guess it's time to fork out another load of money to change that!!
Not impressed with ML love the drive it gives when it's working ok. But that's not very often!!

After just reading your previous posts/problems, i would have immediately suggested the maf to be the culprit, a faulty maf can cause intermittent turbo loss (i speak from experience)

New maf circa £60 from MB

Mine has been the most reliable car I've ever owned . Used and abused over 300k miles and never left me stranded once , still on the original clutch and turbo and still uses zero oil between services .

The maf is more or less a serviceable item, so, for £60, its worth trying a new maf first as a star diagnosis is probably going to cost you £40+

But I'm not getting any limp home mode or anything like that. Not sure the MAF would make that much difference to my car as the turbo is swirling up from sound of things? Just not getting power?

Check for a blocked primary cat (the one you can just see from under the bonnet) easiest way is to remove the clamp just in front of the cat and drive the car to see if power is restored (might be a little noisy but an effective test to eliminate a blocked cat as causing the problem)

May be your right but I'm thinking the turbo is to blame!?!?

Will try what you say at weekend as i need the space to restore my faith in my car !!

Same faults are across the spectrum of car manufacturers your no better off with any of them as they all have horrendous common faults, its just how much you can afford to pay to have the repairs done for the same fault on a German Marque ( BMW Mercedes VAG ) or a Dagenham dustbin (Ford).

EGR valves
Lambda sensors
MAF sensors
MAP sensors
Crank/cam sensors
etc etc same problems on all manufacturers but put the name Mercedes on the part and pay at least 3 x more.......

And please, Mercs being associated with "bullet proof" really is funny these days.

:)

Totally agree worst car i ever owned complete money pit, save yourself a whole world of pain and get shut as you will be chasing the failures forever

Unlucky I think, we've had two, a 270 and a 500, no real problems with either.
